66A: Party person (5 letters)
ANS: Guest

Guest?

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Could be "li'l JC" if the punctuation is ignored. Of course this may involve a big stretch, calling mimosas and Moet the building blocks of a party I mean.
Soon I discovered that this rock-thing was true...

Gistok would not approve of this pluralization.

50D: Kids' blocks
Ans: Legos

Bought a Freep on the way into work specifically so I could do the crossword, but my boss got to the crossword before I could. i hate when that happens.

I'd shoot the guy 43 times if I was disprespected like that. But that's just how I roll.

5A: "Go ____, Tigers!": 1968 Detroit baseball theme song

According to the Urban Dictionary the song title has become slang meaning John has a thick skull. Bless You Boys is also in the Urban Dictionary, though the definition refers to the 2006 New Orleans Saints (What up wit dat plagerism , SA?). Gum Time, sadly, remains out of mainstream slang.

Go get 'em tiger...

A phrase used when you are having a conversation with someone (usually a friend), and the other person is being a complete dumbass and doesn't understand what you're talking about, even though its completely understandable... But then they finally get it.

John: Hey, where were you today?
Sam: I was home sick...
John: Oh where were you? I didn't know you were on vacation!
Sam: I'm at home. Sick. Dumbass. .
John: Oh!! You're home.. and you're sick. Sucks man!
Sam: Go get 'em tiger...
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

57A: Crush competitor (5 letter)

I had the first two fills -- FA -- so I confidently filled in YGO. Shoutout Detroit!
<sad trombone music> Working the down fills strips my Gratiot Ave blinders. The answer was Fanta.

Stroh
That clue probably wasn't written by a Detroiter; they don't know enough to make it Stroh's.
