Actually that's pretty clever. Like more cerebral than I'd expect from this sort of thing. Brings to mind something I overheard in high school. Another school's brothers were hooting on ours and one of ours, a buddy if that matters, replied: "shit, I know more gangs than those niggas got daddies." If you think about it that was like a Pollack telling a Pollack joke but meaning it.

Three Detroit residents have been charged with beating a 57-year-old man to death last week at his home on the city’s west side.

Mary Pye, 20, Parada Carson, 26, and Diago Jones, 23, all of Detroit, have been charged in connection with the death of Louis Herman Morris on June 24 in the 9900 block of Hartwell.

A Wayne County Circuit Court Judge warned the remaining defendant in the April beating of suburban motorist Steve Utash that the 19-year-old needed his own beating.

Judge James Callahan told Latrez Cummings at his sentencing Thursday that the young man needed a dad in his life and “someone to beat the hell out of you when you made a mistake.”

From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2014 ... z37kabnQE3

Obviously, The kid should go to jail for what he did. They all should. But...

1. It's probably not Latrez's fault he doesn't have a dad.
2. Should a judge really be advocating beat downs?
3. Spanking a little kid is one thing, but "beating the hell" out of someone who makes a mistake just perpetuates the cycle of violence and creates learned behavior.

A 19-year-old man was transported to Henry Ford Health Center-Brownstown after a bar patron walked up to him and started whaling on his head with his fists.

The man was at Moose MacGregor’s Restaurant and Bar, 21980 Telegraph Road, at about 2 a.m. Jan. 24 when the suspect, who actually is his best friend, turned on him.

According to a police report, the man said he has no idea why the suspect assaulted him.

When police arrived, the suspect had already left the bar.

Two witnesses at the bar were questioned by police.

Both told officers the suspect walked up to the man and began punching him several times in the face.

Police noted that the man had significant redness and swelling to the right side of his face, consistent with being punched repeatedly.

He also had a scratch several inches long on his right arm.

The man complained of having pain on the right side of his jaw.

He told police he couldn’t remember how many times he was punched.

Police located the suspect and questioned him about the incident.

According to the report, the suspect told police he recalls punching his best friend.

He said he doesn’t remember how many times he punched him or why he hit him in the first place.

The suspect said he, too, was punched in the face during the fight, but does not know who punched him.

Police told the suspect to expect to receive a citation in the mail for assault and battery.

Detroit bus driver arrested after striking passenger, Wayne County deputies say
Deputies: Driver grabbed woman getting off, pulled her back on bus

DETROIT - A Detroit Department of Transportation bus driver was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a Wayne County Sheriff's deputy saw the driver strike a female passenger, according to the Sheriff's Office.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near the northwest campus of Wayne County Community College District on Outer Drive near the Southfield Freeway.

Deputies said the bus had reached the end of its route when the driver asked the three remaining female passengers to leave.

The trio allegedly began complaining about continuing on when the driver restated that it was the end of the line and that they had to leave as he was going to take a scheduled break, deputies said.

Two passengers got off the bus. As the third passenger was exiting the steps, words were exchanged and the driver allegedly grabbed the woman and pulled her back on the bus, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The passenger told deputies that's when the driver began attacking her in a physical altercation.

A deputy completing a perimeter check at WCCCD saw the driver hitting the passenger. Deputies said he rushed to the bus, ordered the driver to stop and when the driver failed to comply the deputy used non-lethal chemical spray to get the driver to stop.

It is not known if the individuals involved were known to one another, the Sheriff's Office said.

During the bus driver's arrest, the deputy confiscated a handgun from the driver who had a valid CPL, but it is against regulations for DDOT drivers to carry weapons while driving, authorities said.

A DDOT supervisor arrived at the scene, along with a deputy chief and two officers from the Transit Authority and WCCCD security. Deputies said both the passenger and the driver refused medical attention.

The driver was taken to the Wayne County Road Patrol division for processing.

Some young techs were talking [Overheard] last week about going to the St Paddy's parade [Three Thousand People I Couldn't Party With]. Today [Reporting Back] he said he got into a fight...with seven people [Things You Expect to Hear]. Apparently he's a firefighter somewhere and he waited to get into a bar with a group of firefighter friends, the bar was already full of other firefighters from Detroit and different places, and he said some guy in a group of "punks" outside the bar said something about there being too many firefighters and dude's buddy, who apparently had already been overserved despite the fact that he was just entering the bar, "took a leap" and engaged with the punk and his crew. Firefighter/Tech said that his team prevailed. Dude looks like he can handle himself. Actually, he looks like a 5' 8" badger. Anybody go to hospital? No firefighters; Don't know about the punks. He said he maybe punctured a knuckle, I didn't see anything, and loosened a few teeth while his buddy went to clinic the next day and found out he broke his jaw in two places. Good times. Did the police come? [Asked and Answered] Sorry, dumb question. The barkeep said they all looked OK, carry on.

A jury has convicted an Inkster officer whose bloody beating of a driver was captured on video of assault and misconduct in office.

Imagine being a cop. Their whole world has been turned upside down in the last year or two. The badge has suddenly gone from a license to arrest, beat, kill or whatever to whoever with impunity to something that any reasonable person would immediately question. It must be a hell of a shock to the men and women in blue.

Two people were bound over for trial Monday on assault with intent to murder along with several other charges after their alleged victim vividly recounted suffering a violent beating, stabbing and biting attack over a boiling pot of chili.
