I was lucky enough to have been at that game, courtesy of my Dad.
Sad to say, I was at an age when girls, and hanging out with my neighborhood friends, were dominating my thoughts. It was great to see those players (if one looks at that video, one should be astonished to notice how many major, true icons of the game were in attendance... young Reggie, middle Yaz, older Killebrew,) but the truth is that I was a bit too young & distractipated to fully appreciate it.
Although, a ball crashing through one of the light-towers is kinda hard to not appreciate.

Batting average isn't everything, but Cobb won 12 AL batting titles in 13 years (1907-19) while hitting a combined .377/.441/.527 en route to a 189 OPS+. His record hit total (4,191 upon his retirement in 1928 but since revised downward by two) stood until 1985, when Pete Rose passed it.

A protégé of teammate Ty Cobb, Heilmann hit .342/.410/.520 in a 16-year career spent mostly with the Tigers. ARLINGTON -- The Texas Rangers announced Friday that Ron Washington has resigned as manager of the Texas Rangers, effective immediately.

Rangers president of baseball operations and general manager Jon Daniels issued the following statement: "Ron Washington informed us today that he has chosen to resign as Rangers manager in order to turn his full attention to addressing an off-the-field personal matter. Out of respect for Ron's privacy, the Rangers will leave any comment on the details to him.
"While we are disappointed, we accept Ron's decision and are grateful for his many contributions to the Rangers organization over the last eight years. This has certainly been a difficult season for our major league club in terms of on-field performance, but we were looking forward to moving ahead with Ron as our manager in 2015.

Bench coach Tim Bogar has been appointed interim manager for the remainder of the 2014 season. Bogar, who has spent the past 11 seasons as a Major League coach and Minor League manager, is in his first season on the Texas staff.
Washington was appointed the Rangers' 17th full-time manager on Nov. 6, 2006. His record at the helm is 664-611, and he is the franchise's all-time leader in regular-season wins and games managed (1,275). He also compiled an 18-16 record over postseason appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Texas won the American League pennant in 2010 and 2011.
