Let's be happy that the pictures hacked from Kate Upton's iCloud account are of her and Verlander. If it was some other guy, he'd be pitching like shit the rest of the year.

The Tigers will activate Sanchez from the DL tomorrow, but Ausmus said they won't use him for more than two innings at a time. Guess they just found a seventh/eighth inning guy to give Chamberlain (who flat out looks gassed) a bit of a break.

The Tigers don't have to do much thinking when it comes to a giveaway for next season's first homestand against the White Sox.

That made me laugh.

Fun fact: This is the first time in club history the Tigers will play in the postseason for a fourth straight year. Last year's club matched the 1907-09 run of three straight playoff appearances.
Granted, it's a lot easier to make the playoffs than it was pre-1969, but they're still a long way from the long, depressing days of the late 90s and early 2000s when they usually were mathematically eliminated before July 4.

Other fun fact: Davis has more stolen bases (35) than the 2013 Tigers.

Awesome, I'm going on Sunday and I thought it was going to be a 6pm start. That doesn't sit well when my new shift starts at 2am. But a 4pm start means I can have a beer or two and still get a few hours sleep before work. A couple other Fudgers are going too.

But aren't you afraid of the pending chaos and pandemonium, because the Lions play Sunday at 1 PM?

Cross-post to Crap Journalism, btw. I've heard the same "worry" on two different radio stations today.

I'll be on the crew covering the game, but really only need to be there about 30 minutes before the first pitch.

HFD mini-dart, um, day before the game?

Justin Riger from 97.1 arrived from the Lions game yesterday and proceeded to plop down in the middle of the workroom and start yammering about Ron Gardenhire.

I'm sure the Tigers will contact Gardenhire, if only to see what his plans are. The Twins still owe him money and he is an avid fisherman; nothing like sitting on your ass for a summer and getting paid for it.
I don't think Ausmus is going anywhere. It's hard to make sense of some of the decisions he made in the ALDS (pulling Sanchez, to me, is not the reason they lost game 2), but the guy still got a deeply flawed team to the postseason, where it lost to one that is playing as well as anyone right now, with the possible exception of the Giants. Hell, Ned Yost doesn't look like he knows what the fuck he's doing out there and his team is playing for a pennant now.

Injuries to Pukonnen, Rondon and Hanrahan left them scrambling to make something work in the bullpen. They got a lot out of Chamberlain during the season but the kid looked like his arm was jelly by mid-September. Alburquerque can't handle tight situations and Soria, well, who knows what's wrong with him. The Tigers had very few options back there.

They got more out of Davis than I think they thought they would, but other than that, there was little pop from the 6-9 hitters. And everyone but the Martinezes seemed to go cold in the playoffs.

They need a healthy bullpen before they know what to do with it. I'm sure they'll be bidding on Andrew Miller this offseason.
They need a new right fielder because Hunter sounds like a man ready to retire (that, and I don't think there's any way they would want him back, especially if ...)
They need to keep Victor Martinez, perhaps offer three years with a player option for a fourth? The guy's 36 but he hits the shit out of the ball.
Beats me what they do in center field.
Iglesias, one would hope, joins Kinsler to make the middle of the infield better.
Scherzer is good as gone, but with Verlander, Price and Sanchez, plus a mostly consistent Porcello, that's still a great rotation.

I don't see any good reason not to bring Ausmus back.

Posted this on D-Day's FB page earlier.

1) Look what's happened to the Angels, and what's happening to the Nats. Teams with the best records in the league are getting shown the door by wild card teams.

2) Look what happened to last year's World Series winner? A worse record than the Houston Astros.

This was a disappointing way to end the season. This cannot really be unexpected, since this kind of shit happens all the time in baseball. It's why I love the game.

Ausmus did a pretty good job as a first year manager, and he can only get better. Probably. But then again, who knows? Still, he did nothing to get himself fired.

And, no, I wasn't ranting about firing Ausmus. The Beav was agreeing with me. Spot on analysis by both of you, BTW.......

Girardi took over, missed the playoffs in season one, and won the world series the next year.

Matheny took over, lost in NLDS and went to the series the next year and is poised to do it again this year.

Gotta give Ausmus at least a year until you start judging.

Which is exactly what the doofus, majority of Tigers fans seem to not understand. I'm trying hard not to be an elitist, but these idiots are fucking stoopid. Thank God it's hockey season. They'll be distracted by the sport they really love.
