The Vikings released Kluwe earlier in May. Shortly before the move, Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist Chip Scoggins wrote that "the Vikings are jettisoning Kluwe partly because they grew tired of his outspokenness."

Addressing speculation that his advocacy could lead to his being cut, Kluwe told ProFootballTalk in a text message that "It’s a shame that in a league with players given multiple second chances after arrests, including felony arrests, that speaking out on human rights has a chance of getting you cut."

Clint Hurdle during tonight's postgame talking about how his team played hard all night, used the phrase "We didn't boo-boo lip it being down most of the night."

I hope Pittsburgh wins the NL Central. As much as I hate Inge, I'm really happy for Grilli, and McCutchen is one of my most admired players in the league at this time.

Grilli. Grilli is a fuckin' idiot, but somehow he has all of his shit working in high gear, right now.

McCutchen, I hope, has never had a worse moment than that bonehead Little League stuff on the basepaths, last night.

Gotta love Grill. He was born at Beaumont Hospital.

EDIT: Hey, it doesn't work anymore.

Has anyone asked Leyland what he thinks about Grilli after these two games? Or Grilli's opinion of Jim?

Leyland probably sees all of that as water under the bridge and doesn't attach, to it, enough importance for grudge-bearing.

I think the cause of that little inflammation may have been double-barreled; while Leyland, on principle, would be irked by Grilli (or anyone) going public with intra-team criticism on the way out the door, I always had the gut feeling that Grilli's remarks probably were accurate, and therefore their sting was more painful.

Leyland, in response, certainly made a valid point. Having already made that point, I'm betting that it stopped mattering, to him, about 3 minutes later.

“Well you tell the SEC when they can learn to read and write then they can figure out what we’re doing. I’ve been down there. I was the chairman of the Southeastern Conference for two years. I’ll tell you something. It’s shameful. It really is.”

I hope Curt got a good education. He seemed to get about half the football genes Doug got, who in turn got about half of what Mike got.

I meant Doug. Doh! Got to study with the players in their private tutoring room in the UGLi. I felt like a genius in that room.

My lasting memory of Doug is the ball sailing through his hands in the end zone during the Rose Bowl. Touchdown ASU!

Curt Schilling is a complete ass, but it sounds like he's a helluva dad.

ESPN has corroborated most of the book by the flesh peddler who supplied Louisville basketball players with strippers for their parties. As an added bonus, many of the girls (including two daughters of said flesh peddler) had sex with the athletes for money (the going rate appeared to have been $100 per romp).

As the findings rolled out this morning, various parties began making statements, including Rick Pitino, who basically claims the whole thing was or was not the idea of a student turned grad assistant turned director of basketball operations who had access to large sums of cash to pay the girls and supply athletes with money to tip them. Of course, Pitino had no idea this was going on (bullshit) and is imploring the grad assistant to 'fess up and fall on his sword.

Most every major college athletics program does something sort of like this. Most, however, are elegant enough to craft layers of removal from the program and/or athletic department. From the looks of things, Louisville was too stupid to look into whether the pimp it was dealing with would be reliable enough to keep quiet (pure speculation, but it seems the flesh peddler started blabbing the minute the money spigot stopped flowing).

And, sadly, this will not cede the national championship to Michigan.
