Welcome to the club. I think I prefered her pregnant.

Furnance isn't on in my place. No menopause either, which actually is pretty damn harrowing if you consider the hand that the fertility gods have dealt us thus far.

I've had a fire in the fireplace the last couple of days but no heat yet. The wife has asked a couple of times already but I said it's not time yet. The kid walks around in the morning with no pants on so she's fine. I doubt I'll be the last one here north of the Michigan border to throw in the towel, though.

Clearly, you have an internal body temp of about 95, so yeah, it feels fine to you.
The kid, thanks to you, is endowed with some of that same amphibian nature.
The wife is probably baking, and doing more laundry, than usual so she'll have a goddam source of warmth while she waits for the day when it becomes necessary to use an ice-scraper on the bathroom mirror and you turn on some heat so gazing at your own mug won't require any such effort.

So, where's the problem? Win-Win as far as I can tell.

I have an unfair advantage because I've been out of town, but I'm sure if it's below 40 on Thursday night, I'll be out of the pool too

I think not having a boiler nor a furnace disqualifies me, doesn't it? Damn.

Went three days in a row that it was cool enough that the AC did not come on.

That streak ended today.

Hey man, I can tell already it ain't gonna kick on today. That is four out of five days with no AC the week of Columbus Day. Not cool. Well, actually, that is the problem. It's cool.

Concrete slab floors, glass garage door as my entire exterior east wall, 35 degrees last night, open floor plan with a 35 foot high loft ceiling, no interior insualtion on original exposed rafter ceiling and I made it through with a solid ceiling fan plan and a down comforter - but no furnace being turned on...

About the same conditions here. Is 54 in my place right now (1860 brick building=not a lot of insulation; large, ancient windows on first floor fronting street and courtyard). Okay for sleeping, not so hot for taking a shower. I think I'm just a little out of practice on this whole cold weather thing, especially after last year's non-winter.
