About the same conditions here. Is 54 in my place right now (1860 brick building=not a lot of insulation; large, ancient windows on first floor fronting street and courtyard). Okay for sleeping, not so hot for taking a shower. I think I'm just a little out of practice on this whole cold weather thing, especially after last year's non-winter.

We're out. To many north facing windows with the winds from Sandy......
Where the hell am I going? And what the hell am I doing in this handbasket?

53 degrees in my 80 year old apartment. Electric blankets and a portable space heater keep us... comfortable?

Putting up with you would make her a martyr.

OK, buckaroo, if you are declared-- by Gully, Arbiter of Semi-Essential Ephemera-- to be the winner, would ya have some mercy on that poor woman and get some goddam heat going?

Not yet, although yesterday was somewhat nasty, with a 50 degree wakeup call.
I made sure the storms on the second floor are all shut. First floor has none, which is not surprising given that the windows are 8 feet tall. Nevertheless, their lack of even a scintilla of insulation is problematic for sure.
Make no new female acquaintances; avoid soirees; call on old friends occasionally. Write good letters to absent friends, and attend church once each Sunday.

Came home to the wonderful noise of the passive solar air heater going at my place. The Southern wall which has its thermostat on it says 55! Woowho! I may have a fire tonight after my run at 6pm. It's debatable.

Seriously, with the way it feels out today, I thought I needed to bring this thread back to the top of the list. I haven't caved yet, but if it gets much colder, all bets are off

Boo-fucking-hoo.

I live in a functioning city half way between the Atlantic Ocean and The Great Smoky Mountains and I have to run my AC a lot.
