Just wait until he starts trying to do the little quirky things you do and acts like you when you're working on a project. And when he wants a little guitar. It's going to be adorable and drive Mrs. D-Day nuts.

Haha -- We just got back from the guitar store (Sam Ash) a little earlier. I had to replace my cord (why do these things go like this? Thank God for lifetime warranties)......the MT wasn't happy when we finally left. He was having a great time playing on the bongos......

OK, so let's put this back on track. Conversation snippet between the Concubine and myself after she was saying how shew can't believe how much better the MT is behaving

Concubine: I think I'm going to look for a trailer park in Monroe in a couple months once D-Day II starts working.

Me: How are you going to be able to afford to rent a trailer? People don't often just "rent" a trailer. They usually buy the trailer and the savings you get from the low cost of the trailer are then eaten up in lot rent. Don't you think you'd be better off finding an apartment closer to where you guys can get to work easier and holding off until you are both working?

Concubine: Oh, D-Day II will make enough money, I'm sure, and I think we're going to go there once he starts working. (D-Day II hasn't had a job in almost a year and is having a real hard time finding one now even at minimum wage, D-Day II can't get his license until next fall and has about $600 in fines he needs to pay, they have no money even to go to the store in their truck because there's no gas in it, and she wants to move to Monroe; which while a nice small town with decent schools, is just that, a small town that's 10 miles from anywhere around here)

Me:

She really has no clue and has an answer for everything, but reality doesn't factor into anything...........It's like the elevator is stuck on the 13th floor of building with no 13th floor

Things have been up and down recently, more up than down, though. Until this weekend. Friday night Mrs. D-Day is in our room watching TV and the Concubine is talking to her in the doorway. Meanwhile the MT is in the upstairs hall behind her running back and forth with a truck on the (laminate) floor and it's making a horrid noise downstairs. So I go over to ask the MT to put the truck away. After asking three or four times he starts shaking his head at me and I ask him if he's going to put the truck away and he says no.

Tilt. Game over. It just became bedtime.

He runs into his room and the Concubine runs in behind him. I'm pissed and he knows it and as soon as I get to the threshold of the door, the Concubine starts yelling at me that she'll handle it. No, you will not. You don't handle anything when it comes to him unless it directly affects you, and besides, the MT's problem is not with you, it's with me and he's going to have to settle it with me. Ten minutes sitting on his bed, then we talk about what the problem is. I don't touch him. I threaten it, but I don't and won't do it. She keeps trying to speak. I'm not listening to her. Finally she grabs both kids and storms out of the room when she realizes I'm not backing down and she's not going to get her way.

I almost threw D-Day II out of the house a couple months ago for doing the same thing........walking away from me with an attitude when he couldn't get his way and had his nose out of joint about something

Fast forward to yesterday and the MT is outside playing when the bird feeders behind our back window start shaking (Again! How many flippin' times do we have to tell him to stop doing that?!) and I go out back and catch him shaking the poles the feeders are mounted on. Back upstairs, dude, knock off the alligator tears, and sit on your bed. The Concubine is in the room this time with the GD and out of the corner of my eye I can see she's not happy. I go back up in 10 to talk to the MT and she's in there playing with the MT when he should be being punished.............needless to say, this does NOT make me a happy camper and I simply say, "Thanks for the backup, Concubine, and you wonder why I won't let you 'handle' things" and close the door loudly. Watching the Tigers blow a four run lead in the last two innings does not help my mood, either. I go to bed angry and tell Mrs. D-Day I'm at my wits end with the Concubine. Talking to her doesn't seem to work and it's not like I can punish her. Something needs to change post haste, though

So Mrs. D-Day sat her down this morning and basically told her that if this keeps up, she'll need to find somewhere else to go soon. I don't have the lowdown yet, but I'm sure it went something like this

A.) The MT needs to learn that there are consequences and that Mommy can't make everything better all of the time.
B.) You're making D-Day and I look like asses in front of the MT and D-Day, in particular, won't stand for it and he's starting to get really irritated
C.) You're showing him, in no uncertain terms that he doesn't need to listen to us (Mrs. D-Day and I) and he's getting that point becaise he's not listening anymore. This is now a serious problem

So now the Concubine is in tears back at the house. She knows that I'm pissed pretty royally right now. My guess is that she thinks I'm pissed at the MT when in fact, it's her. I texted Mrs. D-Day back after she told me about the Concubine crying and said that putting them out was the last thing I wanted to do, but things need to change quickly

We're all going to sit down and talk tonight (Mrs. D-Day, the Concubine, and myself) and hash this out when I get home. Unless the Concubine kicks herself out of the house, she won't get put out, but Papa Bear is not happy right now

Hang tough, D-Day; you are actively improving that kids future even if his mom doesn't get it.

Oh, I'm hanging tough. It's a good system we have where I talk to Mrs. D-Day before I do or say anything rash and she talks to the Concubine. They actually have a pretty good relationship and she listens to Mrs. D-Day. It's hard sometimes to bite my tongue, but it gives me a chance to cool off a little bit, too

This will be interesting to see how this shakes out tonight. According to D-Day II differences in her family are solved pretty similar to how you would see on Jerry Springer, or are put out on Facebook (Mrs. D-Day has already warned in no uncertain terms her not to do that). It'll be interesting to see how she reacts to how normal people settle their differences

Glad to see that HFD is considered a better digital outlet than FB.

I'm out cutting the back grass yesterday and I'm about 1/4 of the way done when the MT comes out of the house with a glass and a beer
"Papa needs more beer". Take a good healthy swig and keep going. Out. Back. On every back, there's the MT with a glass and a full beer............first time I ever cut a lawn in a six pack.

Yes, young Padowan, that's exactly what Papa needs. Papa needs more beer. Your training is nearing completion. Progressed far you have

Yes, yes.....Mrs. D-Day calls me today and instead of, "Hello", I get, "Do you know what the MT did!!".
"Uh-oh. No, tell me........"
He walked up to his mother and said, "Pull my finger, and when she did he farted and it was nasty. Then he laughed like there was no tomorrow. Now where in the hell do you think he got that from?!"
"No clue. Probably one of the dogs. They fart all the time"

Like I said before. The boy is progressing nicely........slowly, I'm making a normal boy out of him
