I enjoy using Beermenu.com, for those bars that participate. There is a neighborhood bar here a block from my office. Good place with stellar drafts. However they sometimes get too ginned up with beers that border on undrinkable. I mean, there should always be at least one IPA. Beermenu will tell me the price and pour, so I know I can get a pint of $3 Oskar Blues Dale Pale Ale, or a $5 Sculpin IPA, or whatever....during happy hour until 8. They update it on their Facebook page.

Nothing grinds my gears more than when I walk in and it's nothing but barley wines, stouts, bourbon barrel beer, wacked out Dogfish Head concoctions and the like. Today's draft lineup is reasonable. http://www.beermenus.com/places/6040-the-lackman

They also have a couple bottles of Col. E.H. Taylor bottled-in-bond Rye Whiskey. Had a taste yesterday. Nice stuff.

The Japanese gastropub next door to my office is tapping a firkin of Bell's Hopslam at 5. There's also an Epic beer event with paired appetizers two blocks away. Then a party for the Original Maker's Club. Going to be a fun night.

I was going to say report back, but you won't be remembering much.

You're probably correct there.

If I had any skills at all I'd drop in the clip of the guy from Napoleon Dynamite that goes "son, I don't even know what you're talking about." Something about beers, right ?

Let me help you out with the concepts:

This is the asian gastropub across the street: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2013 ... 8336715760
This is the one next door around the corner: http://www.soapboxmedia.com/features/12 ... inotr.aspx
This kinda explains the firkin craze: http://ciceroschatter.wordpress.com/201 ... er-school/

The Hopslam firkin was at the place around the corner (also an Asian gastropub).

This place is opening downtown on the river this month. The architecture is extremely meh (a suburban Abuelo's on steroids comes to mind), but I will be interesting in seeing how the 250 keg (!) sustem works and doesn't get shitty.

I hear they have this whole system, but hmmmm.

Opening Day will be nuts with the number of mega-bars within a block of the stadium.

So I helped a cousin of my SO cut and plane some old pine boards in my shop a while ago and he brought a couple random beers from his fridge as a token gift of thanks, and one of them was a Dogfish Head Barley wine (15% ABV). Anyways, several months later, I cracked it tonight. Fuck its the worst, thank god I had some Labatt Blue Light in the fridge to rinse my mouth out.

Was in Atlanta officiating a wedding this past weekend.

Stopped by Your DeKalb's Farmers Market on the drive back.

750 ML La Fin Du Mondes for $6.19 a bottle.

I stocked up.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Sorry for misrepresenting the price point of Shock Top. I don't think I've ever had one, but I spotted this car in Watertucky so I automatically assumed it was classy.

Tonight I had a couple Oberons while sitting on the front patio at Amici's in Berkley. Wearing shorts. Good times. The Orthodox church across the street had some kind of ceremony going on. The congregants carried around a small casket-looking thing and we speculated that they had sacrificed a baby, but there is probably a less sinister explanation.

By using the El Dorado Atmospheric and Oceanic temperatures thermal map. I caculated the contrary direction where the polar jet stream is going and it didn't look pretty.

I think it's an orthodox Good Friday tradition to bury the body of Christ or something
