I'd never seen the brand aside from the occasional garage sale ad sign until last summer when they suddenly began replacing stacks of Busch Light as aisle obstacles in every store in my area. Slightly lower alcohol content than Budweiser which was my previous brand so they seem to freeze faster in the trunk of a snowmobile. You can squeeze the contents out of the can for a nice beer slushy but you have to do so fast and therefore go through them quickly which makes sense that it only comes in 30 packs I guess.

Bad Brad's BBQ in Shelby Twp actually serves Blatz in cans...on the retro menu. First beer I ever tasted was a Blatz (used to open the beers we were shagging for dad).

Pop used to drink Red, White, and Blue beer. I never tasted the stuff, but I knew it was cheap.

One of the party stores near U of D used to stock RWB during the early 1990s. That, and Fall City, some awful shit from Ohio, were popular purchases after everyone cashed their work-study checks.

We sometimes got to be pseudo aristocrats when College Liquor would end up with a pallet of Dos Equis or some other import they couldn't unload on the locals. They'd turn around and unload it on the U of D kids at cost.

Was a nice lite summer beer. Only $5 for a warm case if I remember correctly. Another one we'd grab was Great American Beer. Was in a gold can and about the same price. Haven't seen it in years.

I'm pretty much beered-out, cheap as well as non-cheap. Our basement/second-string fridge went belly-up earlier in the week so it's been a scramble to consolidate two into one. Aside from my awesome skills at packing and organizing I've contributed a capacity for draining cans and bottles. To make room for the ketchup, mustard, sour cream, etc. So it's been all about Bud Light and Molson (extras from a party), Yeungling tallboys, and a handful of Sam Adams' holiday specials left over from Christmas. And then there were the 24 oz cans of Rolling Rock that my wife picked up from Kroger for a buck each. And there was the 24 oz Coors Light from the very back with a born-on date before Christmas, 2011. It was fine. Still, no more for me, thanks, I've had enough.

I remember one the wife's uncle used to get at the corner party store. "Big Jug Beer" 0.99 for a glass 2L bottle. There wasn't enough salt on earth to smooth that one out!

Salt my beer, yes. Straws, hell no. I've had ive, yes, but I was in a place with no refrigeration. Pierogis and Marx, yes, but no refrigeration.

My folks had some old-country friends of the pani and pan variety who always had to have ice in their beer even if it was fresh from the fridge.
The straw thing was an old wives tale that made the rounds when I was slinging beers at various establishments that people thought would get them drunker faster.

I have a picture somewheres of my grandma and her sisters having a contest to see who could drink a beer through a nipple first.

Also put shot glasses of multiple hard liquor types in my boomba.

And, loved to drink iced peppermint schnapps in a tall glass with my pitchers of beer.
