Not only is that damn funny, but it has probably spawned an outraged anti-blasphemy thread over on DY.

Fire crews shut down Michigan Avenue in Corktown after 10:30 p.m. Monday when a fire broke out on the second floor of PJ's Lager House at 1254 Michigan Avenue.
Detroit Fire Battalion Cheif 1 John Slavik said crews contained the fire to a single unit on the southeast side of the second floor. He said the smoke damage only appeared to affect the upstairs of the building.
No injuries were reported; however Slavik said three cats that were pulled from the smokey unit by firefighters and given CPR using a special resuscitation device designed for animals but died.
EMS workers attempted to revive the blanket-wrapped cats in rain-slicked Michigan Avenue for several minutes before a man and woman, she visibly distraught, cradled the animals away.
Slavik said he didn't know for sure if any of the tenants were in the unit when the fire began and hadn't identified a cause as of about 11:15 p.m.
"We just smelled smoke and someone yelled everyone has to get out," said 33-year-old Nick Leu who came out to to the bar Monday to watch live music by Curtin, Zombie Jesus and the Chocolate Sunshine Band and Jeffrey Jablonsky. "The fire department came right away."
He estimated as many as 30 were inside the downstairs bar when the evacuation occurred. Many stood outside waiting to find out if they would be allowed to reenter.
Fire crews remained on scene and a portion of Michigan Avenue in front of the bar closed as of about 11:30 p.m.
PJ's Lager House opened in Detroit's Corktown Neighborhood in 1914, originally as a bakery and restaurant and later as a speakeasy during the Prohibition Era.
Two of our favorite Corktown neighbors' lives have been turned upside down due to a fire that struck this Monday night.
The fire spread quickly and though firefighters did all that they could, Brandon and Tati have lost almost everything. Brandon was overcome by smoke as he tried to save their three beloved cats from the fast-moving fire. EMS workers tried to revive the cats for several minutes but were unsuccessful.

Special cat resuscitation device? Good to know DFD is looking out for the city's hipster kitties.

A nice idea but you can't have the 2016-17 Red Wings fans suffering from burning, bloody, fiery eyes at the sight of such an eyesore (as they'll bemoan).

ok, so put a sign out front that says it is the ruins of the historic old Olympia Stadium that was bombed by the Nazis in WWII. 60% of them would never know the difference, and will be taking selfies in front of it in no time.

What's wrong with suburban Red Wings fans! They don't want to be in a shelled out, burnt down, tagged up neighborhood?
If someone wants to de-blight a Detroit neighborhood they must be an elitist exo-burbanite!

Guess they need more parking for that fancy new arena they're getting such a sweetheart deal on. What a shame!

There was no graffiti on that church and it seemed to be structurally sound. I wonder who would profit from such a heinous act? Hmmm....

The historic church is long gone. Let the demolition begin.

While harboring no delusions that the cremains of the church will be preserved, I thought it was a cool building. One article said that it was "reported" to have been empty for at least ten years. No, I was invited inside by a group that was worshiping in there and it wasn't ten year ago. It looked to be in pretty good shape inside at the time, but pictures posted more recently by an adult show holes in the roof.
If it wasn't on Woodward it would be like, oh well, another church burned up, but this is going to leave a hole.
