A 76-year-old bar owner is expected to be arraigned on a second-degree murder charge in the shooting and killing of a 33-year-old female patron.

The shooting occurred early Tuesday morning outside the Tippin Inn Lounge on the 18000 block of Mt. Elliott.

Detroit Police spokesman James Tate said an argument might have begun over unpaid drinks. During the argument, the woman slapped the man and he shot her with a registered handgun, killing her, Tate said.

Tate said there were two nonfatal shootings at the bar in 2005 and one in 2004.

A man who lives in the Circle Drive Commons Apartments and regularly walks around the complex for exercise was fatally shot during his routine stroll Wednesday.

On Wednesday, neighbors said they were inside the east side apartment building when they heard three shots.

Some of the neighbors and witnesses went outside to see what was happening. They told police the 72-year-old man was lying on the ground under a tree.

The man was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he later died.

Police said the attacker is described as a young black man in his late teens or early 20s with a slim build. He was last seen running south on Chene Street.

Police are searching for a person who opened fire at a local gas station on Wednesday night.

Two people began to argue at the Sunoco Gas Station on West Warren Road and Trumbull Avenue on Detroit's west side.

One of the men involved in the altercation presented a handgun and opened fire against two people who were inside a Chevrolet Malibu, according to witnesses.

After firing the shots, police said the man drove off on Warren Road.

The two people who were inside the Malibu were transported to Henry Ford Hospital in serious condition.

We will be meeting at the Tippin Inn Lounge on Mount Elliott

The 8pm starting time seems to be working well, so we will stick with it...

Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings will be in Chicago this week participating in a three-day gun violence summit.

The summit is called "Gun Violence Reduction In The Great Lakes States".

A panel of leaders ranging from law enforcement officials to public health professionals will meet to discuss ways to curb gun violence.

The summit begins Monday and runs through Wednesday.

I guess this is good because everything Ella's done so far hasn't worked.

How long has she been on the job?

My god...

A 14-year-old boy is shaken after he was robbed at gunpoint on Friday.

The boy was in the back yard of a home on Detroit's west side playing with his Pitbull Labrador dog when someone approached him and presented a handgun, according to police.

The man demanded the boy give him the dog.

The boy and his mother are evacuees of Hurricane Katrina and said the robbery was horrific.

The family didn't have any picture so of the dog because they have only had him for three weeks.

Visit Fowlerville at your own risk. They play fast and loose with their guns out there.

A 14-year-old boy is dead after an accidental shooting over the weekend.

Timothy Holmes, 14, of Fowlerville, was at his friend's home near Roberts and Bull Run roads when they found a large-caliber handgun that belonged to an adult that lived inside the home, the Livingston Daily reported.

A short time after finding the gun, the boy who lived inside the home told police he accidentally shot Holmes while showing him the gun.

Emergency crews responded to the home and found Holmes with a gunshot wound to the head, the paper reported.

Holmes was transported by Survival Flight helicopter to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said the boys were alone inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The parents of the boy who admitted to accidentally shooting Holmes have spoken to an attorney.

The investigation is ongoing and the reports will be turned over to Livingston County Prosecutor David Morse's office for review and possible charges, according to the Livingston Daily.

If I were a pack-rat I could post a reference to the story of Kayla Roland, shot dead by one of her first grade classmates who had absconded with his uncles piece. This was in Mt. Morris maybe eight years back and made national news.
