Stuff that is totally played out

Complaining about the Dream Cruise.

Saying you don't watch much television, as though it makes you cooler than the rest of us lazy Americans.

The phrase "in this economy" or "these days".

Playing off the word "stimulus" in commercials or advertisements, as though a $2 greasy burger is part of an economic recovery program.

Saying you don't "get" Twitter, or using the term "Internets", even though you do basically know what it is and just want to sound above it. If this is you, you might also tell people you "don't watch much television".

I love television.

But Twitter? Yeah, I don't get its appeal.

1. Food snobs. There is room in everyone's life for a little casserole.

2. Fat people who say they don't eat junk food. Please, you didn't get that size eating prime rib.

I don't watch much television, but I definitely enjoy it when I do watch. I don't care if someone spends all day glued to the thing, either.

I don't get Twitter. Don't really know what it is, don't care. Some things are meant to be ignored; technology fills most of that gap for me.

Played out. . . .

PowerPoint: People pretending to work because they're making something.

"At the end of the day" is now completely meaningless.

I don't push it out in front of me, so when I say "I don't watch much TV" it's as a justification for not grasping the significance of things like Ryan Whatsisname being found dead. I'm reasonably well-informed about current events, but the name of this reality show guy just blew past me.

I wish "lol" would fade away. Stop all of that damn fake laughing.

I was just going to post something to that effect. I mean, +1.

I watch a ton of crappy reality tv and never heard of that guy.

I think the media is taking the reality tv angle a little too far.

There's a huge difference between Richard Hatch and this dude who was on a spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off show on VH1.

If you have ever ran into these folks, you would know there is a difference between FUIGB and the neo hippy who tells every person they meet that they don't watch TV and don't get that Twitter thing. Perhaps I'm just lucky enough to keep finding them. You see through the schtick when that's what it is.

I know who you're talking about.

And then they rent the DVDs of every single television show ever made through Netflix.

Who's Ryan Whatshisname?

In any event, I always loved it when people would pretentiously sneer "we don't watch television....." Or the even better "we don't own a television...." This often occurred in close proximity to a college campus.

My retort was always something along the lines of an energetically effusive "oh really?? That's too bad...I pretty much watch it 24 hours a day. In fact, I think I was pretty much raised by a television...my parents were, like...Zenith and magnavox....Oh how I loved them...and still do!...."

Even though I really don't watch much tv at all these days....
Make no new female acquaintances; avoid soirees; call on old friends occasionally. Write good letters to absent friends, and attend church once each Sunday.

Greg Giraldo had a good comedy bit on that. He was asking how many of these people were actually laughing out loud because it sounds pretty douchy to read a text like it's written.

As much as I hate to admit it, Hot Fudge Match Game is totally played out. Maybe next year I'll get some new questions.

What, no Curtis Mathes?
My hand to God, she's gonna be at Carnegie Hall. But you - I'll let you have her now at the old price, OK? Which is, which is anything you wanna give me. Anything at all.
